Maroon 5, Lil Jon Win BMI Pop Awards
Maroon 5 and Lil Jon share Songwriter of the Year award.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA  [Monday May.22.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Maroon 5, Lil Jon and Weezer were among the winners at performing rights organization BMI's Pop Awards, held last week in Beverly Hills, California.

During the 54th annual ceremony, Maroon 5 and Lil Jon were crowned Songwriters of the Year, while Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved" was named Song of the Year.

Maroon 5 earned the BMI Songwriter of the Year award for landing three songs on the most performed list of 50. The songs included "Sunday Morning," "This Love," and "She Will Be Loved."

Maroon 5 shared the Songwriter of the Year award with Lil Jon, who won the award for the third time. Lil Jon was named BMI's top Pop and Urban writer in 2005 for writing the songs "Lovers and Friends," "Goodies," and "Salt Shaker."

Weezer's Rivers Cuomo also earned an award for Most Performed Song on College Radio. The first Internet Song of the Year award went to Ciara's "1, 2 Step," written by producer Jazze Pha.

Other winners included Los Lonely Boys, D.H.T., Gavin DeGraw, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, and Pharrell Williams.
