NEW YORK, NY [Wednesday May.3.2006] /Mix103FM.com/ -- Some famous friends were on hand last week to honor REM frontman Michael Stipe for his ongoing work to end hunger.
RollingStone.com reports that Coldplay's Chris Martin and Mike D from the Beastie Boys were among those paying tribute to Stipe at the Food Bank For New York City's Can-Do Awards Dinner.
Also attending the event were Chris Martin's wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, comedian and actor Jimmy Fallon, and singer-songwriter Patti Smith. Smith, who is a longtime friend of Michael Stipe, performed at the Can-Do Awards, where she dedicated the song "Wing" (off her album "Gone Again") to Stipe.
