BANGKOK, THAILAND  [Thursday Apr.6.2006]  /Mix103FM.com/ -- Franz Ferdinand, James Blunt and Kanye West are among the artists nominated for the fifth annual MTV Asia Awards.

Franz Ferdinand scored two nominations including Favorite Rock Act and Favorite Video. Franz will battle it out with Green Day, Oasis, Coldplay, and My Chemical Romance for the Favorite Rock Act trophy.

Franz Ferdinand also faces competition from rapper Kanye West, who earned nominations for Favorite Video and Favorite Male Artist. Other Favorite Video nominees include Korn, Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

Newcomer James Blunt received two nods for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Breakthrough Artist.

Along with West and Blunt, others in the running for Favorite Male Artist include Robbie Williams, Ricky Martin, and Eminem. Favorite Female Artist nominees include Kelly Clarkson, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Lindsay Lohan, and Ashlee Simpson.

The MTV Asia Awards take place on May 6th in Bangkok, Thailand and will feature performances by Korn, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe.
